The lens comes with damping grease to help hold it in place. However, you will need to glue the lens if you need to handle vibration. We are working on an M8 lock ring to solve this problem.
Note that this lens is intended for the OpenMV AE3 or our dual-camera module sensor products that use the PAG7936.
This lens gives your OpenMV Cam the ability to see longer distances (e.g. zoom in). The standard lens that ships with your OpenMV AE3 has about a 70° field-of-view (FOV) which allows your OpenMV AE3 to see more things, but, with less detail. This lens has about a 55° FOV so it provides your OpenMV Cam with about a 1.4x zoom on any particular object.
The M8 Telephoto Lens is great for any application where you need your OpenMV AE3 to zoom in on some subject. For example, the telephoto lens makes it easy to do eye-tracking by zooming in on someone's eye making it easier to determine the direction their pupil is pointing.
