The PIR Shield gives your OpenMV Cam the ability to wakeup from deepsleep on movement by pulling P10 low. It also features eight PWM dimmable high-power white LEDs and eight PWM dimmable high-power IR LEDs (850nm). P7 controls the high power White LEDs and P8 controls the high-power IR LEDs. You can disconnect either pin if you don't need the LEDs and P10 if you need to free it up.
The PIR sensor on this shield was specially chosen for it's ultra low current consumption of 6uA (compared to > 100uA for most PIR sensors). Thanks to this ultra-low-power sensor you should be able operate for years on a battery in deep-sleep with OpenMV Cam models like the OpenMV Cam RT1062.
This shield is compatible with all OpenMV Cam models.
You can still use this shield with OpenMV Cam models that don't have low-power wakeup. The PIR motion detection signal can be used to interrupt the processor via a standard GPIO pin. The PIR wakeup pin can be changed via P9 via solder bridge jumpers.
Applications
With the PIR Shield you can now turn your OpenMV Cam into a motion-activated camera. The PIR Shield is perfect for deploying your OpenMV Cam outside in a battery-powered application. Thanks to the White and IR LEDs you can also choose how to illuminate what you detect.
